Weekly Lessons
The DSA (Driving Standards Agency) statistics show that on average it takes between 40 - 45 hours of in car tuition before a learner driver passes the driving test.

This is a nationwide average - pupils vary greatly and dependent upon each student's aptitude the number of hours required can vary immensely.

The complete DSA syllabus can be covered in as little as 20 hours or less if each section is mastered at the first attempt. However, in order to become a safe and competent driver further practice should be taken to achieve test standard and gain confidence on the road.

Loudwater Driving School recommends a minimum of 30 hours but assesses each pupil on an ongoing basis and as soon as we feel that a pupil is ready we will arrange their driving test appointment.

Taking weekly lessons of one hour will be a long drawn out process - 30 hours at an hour a week will take 7 months! Also, pupils should bear in mind that on the first lesson a beginner will need to be driven to and from a quiet location to get started - the actual driving time will be further limited because the instructor will firstly need to explain how the car works.

Taking 2 hour lessons is the solution. This will reduce the total process of achieving test standard by more than half. Less time will be spent recapping the previous lesson and more time spent behind the wheel on the road.

2 Hour Lessons will save you time and money - you will need less hours in total and a 2 hour lesson also costs less than 2 one hour lessons.

Jenna Feltwell from Loudwater Semi-Intensive Courses
For those in a hurry to be on the road, why not take a Semi-Intensive Course?

You will need to plan carefully in advance and consider the following points before booking the course.
  1. You must hold a UK Provisional Driving Licence and have passed the Theory Test.
  2. You must arrange to be available for 3 hour lessons each day over a 2 to 3 week period.
  3. You must arrange the course well in advance to take account of the prevailing waiting time for a DSA Practical Driving Test Appointment - waiting times vary enormously from one test centre to another and at different times of the year, from as little as one week to as much as 14 weeks - there is little point in booking a course then waiting 3 months to take the test!
Loudwater Driving School will make all the arrangements for you and take you through the process quite painlessly step by step. The full DSA syllabus will be covered as for weekly lessons.

Block Bookings
Loudwater Driving School offers discounts if you book multiples of 5 x 2 Hour Lessons in advance.

Refresher Courses
Refresher Courses can be tailored to specific needs - you may have taken lessons in the past but not taken the test and just need to tone up your skills; perhaps you're having to take a company test before you can drive a company car and have picked up "bad habits"; maybe you're having trouble parking and need assistance with specific manoeuvres - whatever the reason, Loudwater Driving School can help.

Motorway Tuition
Learner drivers are not allowed on Motorways but as soon as you pass your driving test you can use them. Some drivers take this in their stride but to others the prospect of driving amongst fast moving traffic can be a daunting prospect. The speed limit on motorways is 70 mph, exactly the same as the national speed limit for dual-carriageways, but the volume of traffic and especially heavy goods vehicles is much greater and many drivers ignore the speed limits and drive much faster on motorways than they should.

Driving on motorways is actually considered safer than driving on trunk roads. Loudwater Driving School can give you the confidence to safely enjoy the motorway experience.

Pass Plus Courses
Once you have passed your driving test you can take the DSA PassPlus Course. There is no test to take and the course takes only a minimum of 6 hours to complete.

Why take PassPlus?

•You want to be a better, safer and more confident driver.
•You want to learn skills not covered in the normal driving test.
•You want to save money on your car insurance.
