LEARNING THE THEORY > When to start learning theory
Passing the theory test is the first stage in becoming a safe driver. There's a lot to know, but don't try to learn it all at once. If you think you can learn everything the night before your theory test - you will fail for sure..
You probably know quite a lot of driving theory already, just by watching what happens on the roads and drawing your own sensible conclusions: a lot of the Theory Test questions simply require you to use your common sense.

If you don't know the traffic light sequence, learn it now! - it's in the theory test.

Traffic Light Sequence
Facts & Figures However, there are a number of facts and figures you need to know, as well as the signs, road markings and so on. It can seem rather unreal trying to learn these if you haven't yet started to drive, so for many people it works best if they begin studying for the Theory Test when they start driving lessons, not before.
Perhaps the best advice is to learn the theory in easy stages. Buy a copy of the Highway Code and read a bit at a time. When you're out on the roads - even as a pedestrian - make sure you know what all of the traffic signs and road markings mean. Any you don't know - LOOK THEM UP! Whenever you're out in a car, pretend you are the driver and be on the look out for potential driving hazards. See if you can spot hazards before your driver does!
WHAT'S THIS SIGN THEN?

YOU NEED TO KNOW DRIVING THEORY
it's much better than becoming a road death statistic.....
